GM Canada Sales Up 24.2% in July 2005

Oshawa, Ontario (August 3, 2005) '“ General Motors of Canada dealers and retailers delivered 44,398 vehicles in July 2005, a 24.2% increase over the same period last year. Passenger car sales for the month were up 28.0% to 21,203 units while truck sales increased by 20.4% to 23,195 units.
Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service and marketing said, 'The Canada wide clearance sale featuring GM employee pricing for everyone has created terrific sales momentum. Because of the success of this initiative we have decided to continue GM employee pricing for everyone for one more month to continue the clear out of 2005 models.'

Comeau added, 'GM's new 2006 models are now hitting dealer's show rooms and we will continue to be aggressive in the market with these new models. Our marketing programs will deliver a clear and simple message. GM is the car manufacturer that delivers unbeatable value, safety and quality.'

Cadillac sees best July since 1999, with all models posting triple or double digit increases versus July 2004

Record July for GM pickup trucks selling 8,747 trucks, up 2.3% over previous record.

Oshawa built Buick Allure outsells its predecessors by 71.0% CTD.

Oshawa built Pontiac Grand Prix up 70.0% and Chev Impala up 40.0% over last July

Record July for Saturn selling 2,938 vehicles, best month ever for Vue and Relay

Record July for Saab outpacing old record by 14.7%

Calendar Year-To-Date Summary

For the calendar year-to-date ended July 31, 2005, GM Canada sales are up by 7.6% to 282,046 vehicles with car sales up by 5.2% and truck sales up by 10.0%.

GM's small car strategy for Canada with new vehicles packaged for Canadians, has sold 76,479 cars an increase of 16.4% over the same period last year.

The GM small utility segment is lead by the Canadian engineered and built Chev Equinox with sales increase of over triple previous CYTD sales.
